Our story

How it all Started...

Pathway Christian Church, formerly known as National Apostolic Church was the fruition of the burden of Pastor Steven Heintze to reach souls for the Kingdom of God in the city of Silver Spring, Maryland. Beginning as a home Bible study with one young lady, the church grew to a small group opening for services on September 11, 1988 at Woodlin Elementary School in downtown Silver Spring.

Since that time, the church has participated in regular Bible studies at the Women’s Correctional Institute in Jessup, MD where hundreds have been taught Biblical truth, baptized in the Name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost.

After several years of meeting at the Silver Spring Christian Reform Church on Arcola Ave, Pastor Heintze’s vision for an established church location became a reality. In 2008, with God’s direction and the faithfulness of the members, the church was able to purchase the property at our current location, 1021 Norwood Road, Silver Spring, MD. It was a beautiful location but the building was in very rough condition.

Through much prayer, hard work and many sacrifices by all the members and friends of the church, Pathway Christian Church opened the doors for our first service in our new permanent building on July 7, 2011. After 30 years of service, Pastor and Sis. Heintze retired in October 2019.
